Air Operator Certification
Any
person interested in obtaining an Air Operator Certificate to operate
flights shall undergo a certification process. All details pertaining
to obtain an AOC is included in SLCAP 4100 published by CAA is available
at its Technical Library for a fee of Rs.690/- + 15% Vat.
Local Operators
Sri Lanka has three International Airline, which has
a fleet of Five A-340s, four A-330s, Five A-320s. It has a Cessna
208 and two De Havilland (DHC –3T) Single Otters for Domestic
Float plane operations. It Operates 2 AN 12’s for international
cargo operations.
It has 215 pilots
and 700 cabin crewmembers (Approx).
Sri Lanka has two domestic Airlines, namely Aero Lanka which operates
a HS 748 and Expo Aviation, which operate a Fokker F-27. Expo Aviation
operates international cargo with one AN 12 and one IL 18 as well.
Deccan Aviation (Pvt) Ltd. Operates a Bell-206 helicopter and Daya
Aviation operates a Beach Barron for scheduled/ non-scheduled Charter
operations.
There are 10 pilots and 15 cabin crewmembers involved in domestic
operations.
Foreign Air Operators
There are 22 foreign air operators who conduct scheduled
non-scheduled and charter operations into Sri Lanka. Since 1 January
2005 all foreign air operators underwent a certification process.
All on line carriers who intend operating into Sri Lanka henceforth
will be subjected to foreign air operator certification before granting
approval for flight operations. All relevant details pertaining to
the foreign air operator certification are included in SLCAP 4105
published by Civil Aviation Authority which is available at its Technical
Library for a fee of Rs.5, 000/- + 15% Vat.
