Capt. Daminda Rambukwella, Director General of Civil Aviation & Chief Executive Officer, visited Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake, to assess operational responses amidst the ongoing adverse weather conditions affecting the country.

During the visit, he held discussions with key authorities to ensure the continuity of safe and efficient aircraft and passenger operations, emphasizing the importance of proactive coordination and strong regulatory oversight during weather-related disruptions.

He also engaged in fruitful discussions with Hon. Eng. Janitha Ruwan Kodithuwakku, Deputy Minister of Ports & Aviation, Mr. W. W. S. Mangala, Secretary to the Ministry, Air Chief Marshal (Retd.) Harsha Abeywickrama, Chairman of Airport & Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Limited, along with senior officials of AASL and SriLankan Airlines, to coordinate with the Tri-Forces in facilitating transport for crew and airport staff affected by limited airport access due to flooding.

As several airport access roads remain flooded, passengers departing from Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) are kindly advised to use the Colombo–Katunayake Expressway for a smoother and safer journey to the airport.

Additionally, to help ease congestion within the terminal, passengers are respectfully requested not to bring visitors into the airport premises during this period.
