Mr. Azhar Ansari, Area Manager – South Asia, and Mr. Buddhika Hewawasam, Industry Affairs Manager – Sri Lanka, representing the International Air Transport Association (IATA), paid a courtesy call on the Director General of Civil Aviation and Chief Executive Officer of the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL), Capt. Daminda Rambukwella, at the CAASL headquarters.


During the meeting, discussions were held on a range of matters of mutual interest and strategic importance to the aviation sector, including the implementation of Dangerous Goods Regulations, the enhancement of aviation safety standards, the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA), and the effective implementation of economic regulations within Sri Lanka’s civil aviation industry.


The meeting underscored the longstanding and constructive partnership between CAASL and IATA, reaffirming their shared commitment to fostering the safe, secure, sustainable, and orderly development of civil aviation in Sri Lanka in line with international best practices and standards.


Also present at the meeting were Mr. Rayhan Wanniappa, Deputy Director General (Air Transport and Security Regulation), Mr. Asanga Liyanarachchi, Director (Air Transport and Economic Regulations), together with other senior officials of the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka.
