The Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) successfully concluded the 14th ICAO Asia and Pacific Regional Aviation Security Coordination Forum (RASCF), held from 25 to 26 June 2026 in Sri Lanka.

The two-day forum brought together senior aviation security officials, subject matter experts, representatives from ICAO Member States, and international partner organizations to further strengthen regional cooperation in aviation security.

The forum served as an important platform for discussing emerging aviation security threats, exchanging best practices, reviewing recent developments in international aviation security, and enhancing regional coordination in the implementation of ICAO Annex 17 – Security and the Global Aviation Security Plan (GASeP).

Delivering the inaugural address, Captain Daminda Rambukwella, Director General of Civil Aviation and Chief Executive Officer of the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka, emphasized the importance of regional cooperation, information sharing, and capacity building in effectively addressing the evolving aviation security landscape across the Asia-Pacific region.

Throughout the two-day forum, delegates engaged in productive discussions on a broad range of strategic aviation security priorities, including risk-based security measures, cybersecurity, insider threat mitigation, quality control systems, capacity-building initiatives, and strengthening collaboration among Asia-Pacific States to enhance the effective implementation of ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs).

The successful conclusion of the forum further reaffirms Sri Lanka's commitment to supporting ICAO's global aviation security objectives and promoting a safe, secure, and resilient aviation system throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

The forum followed the successful hosting of the 21st CASP-AP Steering Committee Meeting, during which Sri Lanka officially assumed the Chairmanship of the Cooperative Aviation Security Programme – Asia Pacific (CASP-AP) for the 2026–2027 term under the leadership of Captain Daminda Rambukwella.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) wishes to express its sincere appreciation to Hon. Anura Karunathilaka, Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation and Minister of Energy, Hon. Janith Ruwan Kodithuwakku, Deputy Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation, and Mr. W. W. S. Mangala, Secretary to the Ministry of Ports and Civil Aviation, for their invaluable leadership, policy guidance, unwavering support, and continuous encouragement in facilitating the successful hosting of the 21st CASP-AP Steering Committee Meeting and the 14th ICAO APAC Regional Aviation Security Coordination Forum (RASCF) in Sri Lanka.

Their collective commitment and support played a significant role in the successful organization of these important regional aviation security events.
