The Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) recently received technical assistance from the Cooperative Development of Operational Safety and Continuing Airworthiness Programme – South Asia (COSCAP-SA).
Ms. Truphosa Adhiambo Chocho, an ANS Safety Expert, conducted a thorough two-week audit of Air Navigation Services (ANS) based on the ICAO 2024 Protocol Questions in preparation for the upcoming ICAO audit.
This mission reviewed the progress on previously issued recommendations, evaluated the implementation status of ANS Protocol Questions, and identified additional areas where further technical support could enhance Sri Lanka’s aviation safety oversight.
Under the leadership of Capt. Daminda Rambukwella, Director General of Civil Aviation & Chief Executive Officer (DGCA & CEO), along with Mr. M. A. K. Prasanna, Deputy Director General – Aeronautical Services Regulations (DDG/ASR), and Mr. Thilina Warnasinghe, Director – Air Navigation Services (D/ANS), CAASL demonstrated its ongoing commitment to maintaining high standards in aviation safety and regulatory compliance.
The closing ceremony was attended by Mr. Sunil Jayarathna, Chairman of CAASL, Capt. Daminda Rambukwella, DGCA & CEO, Mr. M. A. K. Prasanna, DDG/ASR, Mr. Rayhan Wanniappa, DDG/ ATSR, Mr. Thilina Warnasinghe, D/ANS, Ms. Truphosa Adhiambo Chocho, ANS Safety Expert, and senior officials from the ANS section of CAASL.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) proudly organized a vibrant one-day aviation awareness program to enhance aviation knowledge among students interested in the aviation field, in conjunction with International Women’s Day 2026.
With the participation of 150 students from School Aviation Clubs, universities, and aviation training institutions and line ministry officers, attendees had the opportunity to explore diverse career pathways and learn about the many opportunities shaping the Next Generation of Aviation Professionals (NGAP).
The students were guided by resource persons from the Civil Aviation Authority, Airport & Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Limited, SriLankan Airlines Limited, SriLankan Catering Limited, and SriLankan Aviation College.
Following the event, a field visit to Bandaranaike International Airport was arranged to provide practical insights into airport operations. Additionally, a visit to an aircraft at the B747 hangar was coordinated with SriLankan Airlines Limited.
Under the guidance of the Line Ministry, Ministry of Ports & Civil Aviation, and with the approval of the Ministry of Education, CAASL is committed to organizing various awareness programs to enhance aviation knowledge among students. This program especially aimed to inspire young people to explore the exciting world of aviation and envision themselves in dynamic, high-impact careers across the sector, with a special focus on empowering women in aviation in Sri Lanka.

එමෙන්ම මැදපෙරදිග උද්ගතව ඇති තත්ත්වය හමුවේ මගීන් මුහුණ දී ඇති දුෂ්කරතා අවබෝධ කර ගෙන, රජයේ පූර්ණ මැදිහත්වීම මත සංවිධානය වු ගුවන් ගමනක් බව තහවුරු කර සිටිමු. මෙම ගුවන් ගමන සම්බන්ධයෙන් විවිධ සමාජ මාධ්ය ඔස්සේ පතුරුවා ඇති පරිදි රජයේ අමාත්යවරයෙකු මෙරටට ගෙන්වා ගැනීම වෙනුවෙන් සිදු කල සැලැස්මක් නොවන අතර, එහි සදහන් අමාත්යවරයා දින කිහිපයකට පෙර ලංකවට පැමිණ ඇත.
මෙවැනි අසත්ය තොරතුරු පදනම් කර ගනිමින් සහා ද්වේෂ සහාගත අන්දමින් සමාජ මාධ්ය හරහා සිදුකරන ප්රකාශ හේතුවෙන් ශ්රී ලංකා රජයත්, සෘජුවම සිවිල් ගුවන් සේවා අධිකාරියත් අපතීර්තියට පත් වනු ඇත. මහජනතාව තුළ සිවිල් ගුවන් සේවා අධිකාරිය සම්බන්ධයෙන් වැරදි ආකල්පයක් ගොඩනැගීමට විවිධ අසත්ය තොරතුරු පළ කරමින් මෙලෙස සිදු කරන ප්රකාශ තරයේ හෙලා දකින බව අවධාරණය කරන්නෙමු.
විශේෂයෙන්ම සුරක්ෂිත සහ ආරක්ෂිත ප්රවාහන මාධ්යයක් ලෙස ශ්රී ලංකාවේ ගුවන් කර්මාන්තය, ජාතික ආර්ථිකයට නිබදව සවියක් වෙමින් පවත්වාගෙන යනු ලබන අතර, මෙවැනි සත්යනොවන ප්රකාශ මගින් ගුවන් කර්මාන්තට ද බාධා ඇති විය හැකිය.
රටේ සංචාරක ව්යපාරයට සිවිල් ගුවන් සේවා මගින් අති මහත් ශක්තියක් ලබා දෙන බව කවුරුත් දන්නා කරුණකි. ජාත්යන්තර ප්රමීතීන් පවත්වා ගනිමින්, ශ්රි ලංකාව තුළ ගුවන් කර්මාන්තය දියුණු කරලීම වෙනුවෙන් රජයේ පූර්ණ මැදිහත්වීම හා අධීක්ෂණය යටතේ ක්රිතයාත්මක වන මෙවන් අවස්ථාවක, අසත්ය හා පදනම් විරහිත ප්රකාශ මගින්, පුද්ගලිකව හා කණ්ඩායම් වශයෙන් රටට අත්කර දෙන අපකීර්තිය තරයේ හෙලා දකිමු.

Due to the temporary closure of airspace across parts of the Middle East region, flights operating to and from affected destinations have been temporarily suspended by SriLankan Airlines and FitsAir.
Passengers departing from airports in Sri Lanka are kindly advised to contact their respective airline or authorized travel agent prior to leaving for the airport to confirm the status of their flights.
In order to minimize congestion within airport premises during this period, passengers are respectfully requested not to bring visitors to the terminal.
Under the guidance of the Ministry of Ports and Civil Aviation, and with the leadership of the Hon. Minister, Deputy Minister, Secretary, Capt. Daminda Rambukwella (Director General of Civil Aviation & Chief Executive Officer), contingency arrangements have been coordinated in consultation with relevant stakeholders to facilitate passengers affected by this situation.
