Preliminary Report - Accident involving Cessna 208 Amphibian Aircraft, Registration 4R-CAE, operated by Saffron Aviation (Pvt) Ltd, during Landing at Gregory Lake on 7 January 2026 while operating a Domestic Flight from Bandaranaike International Airport (VCBI) to Nuwara Eliya (Gregory Lake).
The Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka issued the preliminary report on 10 February 2026, which has also been published on the official website of the Authority on the same day.
The preliminary report contains the factual information available at the time of issuance.
The investigation is ongoing. Upon conclusion of the investigation, a final report will be issued by the Authority. The final report will include updated factual information, detailed analysis, conclusions, and safety recommendations.

“The Aeromedical Services, CAASL has temporarily halted accepting investigation reports conducted at the Lanka Hospital. All CAASL clients are advised not to carry out required investigations for your medical examination on behalf of the CAASL at the said hospital until further notice”
